About the song
Thalassa (Θάλασσα, meaning Sea in Greek) is a mellow, soothing Greek Bouzouki instrumental in a slow 'sirtaki' rhythm, with a 4/4. time signature; this time signature is mathematically equal with 12/8, but the emphasis is on the 4 main beats, especially on the bass and rhythm guitar accompaniment.

Scales
The A+B parts are in D Major Natural. The C-part jumps into a scale which I learned as Major/Minor (1 2 3 4 5 6b 7 8). I call it a Mediterranean scale for its warmth, but I am probably wrong to do so:-)

Ornaments
There are a number of ornaments in this tune: besides the usual Balkan 'grace hammer-ons' and staccatos, there are a few tremolo notes, mordents, normal hammer-ons, mordents and grace note slides.
